The U14A boys recorded a very comfotable win on a very heavy Paddocks pitch with their highest goal tally in eleven-a-side football.
They started very brightly and opened the scoring when a long clearance from Ben Perry found Ben Tuffee unmarked and he had the easiest of finishes when the Cottenham keeper slipped. However the lead didn't last long, Cottenham equalising within a minute following poor defending by the home side. The lead was restored after 10 minutes when good football down the right wing from Callum Strachan found Damon Beckett, his cross was met by Ryan O'Hea and he finished neatly. Just two minutes later a great run and cross from Jack Rudkin found Henry Shepherd just inside the area and he coolly side-footed into the corner of the net. Two more goals followed quickly through Ryan O'Hea and Ben Tuffee before Cottenham got one back with a penalty. HT 5-2.
The second half was mostly one-way traffic with Chatteris in the ascendancy. Ryan O'Hea got his third following a good through ball from Levi Beaney and he soon notched his fourth when a header from Callum Stachan was parried by the keeper and Ryan was the quickest to react to the rebound. The 8th came after 55 minutes when Henry Shepherd put Jack Rudkin through. Chatteris then swapped keepers allowing Liam Birch to push up front and he soon had a chance but shot wide of the target from only 2 yards out. (Sorry Liam your Dad told me to put that in and anyway you support Chelsea)!!! However he made amends only a minute later when he scored lobbing the keeper from the edge of the penalty area. The final goal came very close to the end when a long range TOE-POKE from Jack Rudkin went over the keepers head into the roof of the net.
