HOME TO WARBOYS 14/03/10
Today saw the B’s play Warboys at home in which should have been a good game to try and clinch 3 points. The first half looked good from the lads at first and we were causing them some problems and concern. We were missing a couple of our starting eleven players, but it made way for others to shine. It took the team just 11 mins to open the score line after some pin ball action in front of the Warboys defence which eventually found its way to Ben Chapman who smashed it over the stretching arms of the keeper who was off his line. The wind obviously helped it on its flight path but it was an outstanding effort. Well done Ben! We nearly reached half time and it was looking good to go in one nil up at the break. However a mistake added the equaliser, which was lucky for them as it rebounded off the upright straight in to their striker’s path. HT 1-1.
The second half I decided to change the shape to a 3-4-3 to see if we could carry on picking at their defence. To be fair Warboys were by far the better team throughout the second half. We were making far to many of the same old mistakes and as the half went on the Warboys score line increased. The lads did try but there was no conviction in any finish, pass, shielding or breaking up the play and to be honest we looked very flat. To be fair the team played better against Stretham last week even though we lost by a bigger margin. FT 3-1 to Warboys.
There was no Man of the Match today and although there was some good individual play, there however was no teamwork, digging deep and battling spirit. Today was the poorest I have seen them play, which is very frustrating as I know that we could if we wanted to have beat them. The team did get a stern talking to after the match, as I needed to remind them all of individual and team mistakes. Lads please take it on the chin and want to be better at football. I only want the best but on performances like today it is obvious why we are near the bottom. Yes we need to learn the bigger game but every other team is in the same boat. YOU MUST LEARN AND GET STUCK IN MORE!!!
Seven more games left until the end of this season and then god knows what happens with your football next season. If this is the last time you all play together as a team then please go out fighting and wanting to play better football. I hope I see a much needed improvement next Sunday and to the end. See you all at training.
Thanks again to Rob and Dave for doing the honors. Thanks also to the supporters for turning up. |
