AWAY TO MILDENHALL 11/04/10
Today the B’s travelled away to Mildenhall who are currently lying around mid table in our league. We new they had pace on the left wing and tried to do something about it. The game was also special to Ben Chapman as it was his 100th game for CTYFC. Because Mildenhall could only field 8 players I decided to field 9 of our team to make it fair. Sometimes being nice doesn’t always go your way, but Mildenhall appreciated the good deed and fair play.
The first half was even Stevens and it was a good game to watch. It took us only 4 mins to open the score sheet with a neat through ball that was picked up by Ben Chapman to fire the team one nil up. However within minutes of the restart Mildenhall got themselves back in to the game. Moments later and Mildenhall found away through again, this time from their pacey winger to make it two one to them. However the lads never looked like they would give up and on the 11th min Charlie Sibthorp forced his way in to their area to level things up. Through out this half nearly everybody on the pitch was having a crack at goal and if it weren’t for both keepers (ours being Billy Baker) then the scoreline would have got ridiculous. HT 2-2.
After some more changes the team went about to try and close down the extra space that was vacant by not playing 11 V 11. Unfortunately we didn’t get a grip of it quick enough and slowly Mildenhall started to edge away from us. The lads battled and created some chances but just couldn’t finish them off. In the end Mildenhall took their chances well and ran out the overall winners. FT 8-2 to Mildenhall.
The whole team played well and if it was 11 V 11 we could have hurt them in key areas, but that’s football. Man of the Match went to Josh Martin for putting up with me and his dad giving him constant verbal whilst in the 3 positions he played in throughout the game. Well done for keeping going mate!!!
Lads as a team you have learnt to come out of the traps the quickest now but unfortunately we concede to early and run out of steam to early in the game to be able to do anything about it. Now that we are back outside and away from that rubbish sports hall we will be doing a lot more running to increase your overall CV and stamina for the remaining 4 games and for the 5-a-side tournament on the 5th June.
Every player gave me one bad point and one good point after the match that they did during the game that they will work on to rectify, or to maintain. Please keep encouraging them to learn more from football. Thanks to all the travelling parents and again to Dave Chapman for running the line. Next Sundays game is away to Newmarket. See you all at training on Friday. |
