HOME TO LITTLEPORT 21/03/10
Today saw the lads play Littleport at home. We knew it would be a tough game but the lads looked strong within the first 15 mins of the first half. However Littleport showed why they were a very strong side in our league and why they had reached the final of the cup. HT – 5-0 to Littleport.
At the start of the second half we again started strong, but again Littleport pilled on the pressure and started scoring for fun. We did have some shots but nothing that really tested their keeper apart from a disallowed goal scored by Ben Chapman. Nevermind. The whole team worked hard today. There was some outstanding play at the back with the defence. Some good runs on the flanks and some imagination in the centre and up front, but not forgetting Billy Bakers cat like reactions in goal. Littleport were just too strong for us, but the lads did get something out of the game by keeping them on their toes. Man of the Match went to Ashlee Reynolds for getting stuck in and passing the ball a lot better which tested their defence. Well done mate and well done to everyone else. Thanks to the parents for turning up especially as it’s been a weekend of football related stuff with the team fundraising event down at the Co-operative yesterday. It turned out to be a very good event as the team managed to make just over £400 for their team funds. That should give the next incoming manager a nice starting point for next season and to hopefully get your Nike waterproof tracksuits that are long over due. Thanks to Rob and Dave for yet again doing the honours for the team and me. Next Sunday we play Somersham away. See you all at training on Friday. |
