05/08/2010 - Norwich City Academy Development Centre

Please see an article below from Jimmy Unwin. He has recently been recruited by Norwich City's well established Academy, & is working as their U12's coach for the coming season. Also, he is looking to ensure the best Chatteris Town Youth players are given the opportunity to progress with their football development.

Unlike other professional clubs systems, once selected into the Development Centre, it's all free of charge for the kids to train. They can also carry on playing for CTYFC as well, unless they become signed to the Academy teams.

Ray Buddle & Jimmy have discussed this opportunity and they both would like the CTYFC managers from U7-U11 (this coming season) to recommend their best 1 or 2 players. Parents are also welcome to put their boys forward for the trials. Please could you forward these to Jimmy on jimmyunwin@hotmail.co.uk.

If you have players in older age groups that you would like to recommend for a trial with the Academy then please forward them onto Jimmy as well.

Ray & Jimmy are very keen to establish a link between the 2 clubs so that talented boys don't get missed.

Norwich City Football Club Academy

In September 2010, Norwich City Football Club will be opening a Football Development Centre for talented young boys within the Cambridgeshire region. Boys entering this season’s Under 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 age groups will attend the Centre which will be based at Witchford Village College, Ely on the College’s brand new 3G Astroturf surface.

The centre will operate on Friday evenings during school terms from 5.00pm – 7.00pm and those selected to attend the Centre will be coached by staff of the Norwich City Academy.

In order to recruit the region’s best talent to the Centre, two trial dates have been organised at the City of Ely Community College on Monday 23rd and Monday 30th August 2010.

The trials will be split into two sessions with Under 7, 8 and 9 players taking to the field first from 5.30pm – 6.30pm, followed by the Under 10 and 11’s from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

To book a place on the trial dates or further information, please contact Jimmy Unwin on 07764 758940 or via e-mail at jimmyunwin@hotmail.co.uk.

Norwich City’s Academy Manager, Ricky Martin, is delighted to be opening a Development Centre in the region.

“This Development Centre will provide an opportunity for young talented players to enhance their footballing development at a professional Club with a view to gaining a place at Norwich City Academy. We expect this Development Centre to be successful and I am very much looking forward to seeing these players progress from junior football to Academy football.”

“Norwich City has a proud record of producing young talented footballers from within East Anglia and opening a Centre in the Cambridgeshire region will help this trend to continue.”
